A family were forced to scramble to safety when illegal fireworks were set off right next to them at a Perth car park.
Josh Durrant, 12, and his family had just finished dinner at a bistro in the Darch Plaza Shopping centre in the northern suburbs when someone dropped a box out of a car door.
The illegal fireworks were strong enough to burn their clothing, melt paint and sounded like gunshots.
“I thought it was a bomb,” Josh said.
As the fireworks started exploding the Durrant family were standing by their car just 20 metres away.
Within moments the fireworks were exploding and flying all around them.

“The fireworks were shooting at my sister,” Josh said.
One firework even came close enough to burn a hole in her shirt and others hit the family car, melting the paint.
Josh’s mum Wendy – says the family scrambled for cover.
“Somebody could have been maimed. It had the potential of really injuring somebody,” she said.
The family hopes whoever let them off now realises someone could have been hurt.
