Snake catcher hospitalised after attacked by feral cat

A snake catcher was attacked by a feral cat while rescuing her sick kittens and has been hospitalised in ‘excruciating pain’.

Stewart Gatt, aka Stewy the Snake Catcher, was trying to rescue a feral cat which had recently given birth when the mother launched a vicious onslaught on Wednesday.

“So, today we tried to rescue a cat, (feral) which had kittens on a property,” the Victorian snake catcher wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

“All was going well until mother cat decided to turn on me.

“She bit my finger that hard, the tooth punctured my nail and came out the other side.

“I’m now in excruciating pain and on antibiotics to kill any infection.

“Bloody hell it hurt.”

Mr Gatt was undergoing surgery on Friday and has resolved to stick to his day job.

“From now on, I am going to stick to catching snakes,” he wrote.

“At least they don’t attack.”
