The snack camper lost for four nights couldn't stop thinking about

A camper has spoken about how he survived four nights lost in Victorian bushland, living on just a few sips of water, no food – and thoughts of his favourite snack.

Sebastian Orefors slept for just five hours during his ordeal, eventually emerging delirious and dehydrated.

“I got past the point of being starving,” he told 7 News in an exclusive interview.

“Past the point of being tired. I just kept going until I found my way.”

The comfort now being provided by his loved ones is in complete contrast to the gruelling 87 hours he spent lost and confused.

Sebastian quickly found himself in trouble when he left friends in the bush at Wonyip on Friday night to seek an alternative camp site.

He slipped down a steep embankment and couldn’t get back.

The 23-year-old would spent the next four nights and three days staggering through thick bush.

“I didn’t feel scared, I was just frustrated,” he said.

He went hungry the whole time and drank just a few sips of water from a creek.

“I was starving for the first two days,” he said.

“I kept thinking about the Carmen’s muesli bars I’d just bought. I wanted to eat them so badly.”

Sebastian’s ordeal could have been over on the first night.

He found his way out of heavy bushland to the same property where he would eventually be rescued, but no-one was home at the time.

He was feeling relatively comfortable, so he decided he would go looking for help elsewhere.

The Sorrento local is still coming to terms with the large search effort undertaken to find him.

“The amount of people who were out there, all the effort that was put in, the SES – cheers to those guys, you’re all legends,” he said.

His girlfriend Darcy says she wants this to be his last camping trip.

“Just make sure he never goes to the bush again – that’s it,” she said.

But Sebastian isn’t so sure.

“Nah, I knew I was going to make it out of there,” he said.

“I just wouldn’t give up.”
