Four of the SUV’s occupants were pronounced dead at the scene and six were transported to a local hospital, where five people later died, authorities confirmed in a press release.
Sheriff’s deputies and members of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue dove into the water to search for survivors, and one sheriff’s deputy was injured during the rescue attempt.
According to a crash report obtained by NBC affiliate WPTV, none of the victims were wearing seatbelts.
Three of the victims were from out of state: Kamdien and Anyia Tucker lived in Connecticut, while Mack was from Virginia, the crash report states.
On Tuesday, the NTSB announced that it was sending a team to conduct an investigation into the crash.
A GoFundMe started by Wiggins’ daughter has been set up to help pay for funeral expenses and to remember “these precious lives lost,” Patrice Wiggins wrote.
