Sister refuses to help out with wedding planning after bride doesn’t put her in bridal party: ‘What are you thinking?’
A woman is fed up with her sister for refusing to include her as a bridesmaid.
She asked Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” forum to weigh in. She and her sister have a good relationship, and the woman had expected to be a bridesmaid. But despite her sister picking 10 bridesmaids, she was excluded.
Meanwhile, the Reddit poster’s best friend got engaged and asked her to be the maid of honor. She did a smashing job planning her friend’s wedding activities.
So when her sister’s maid of honor “dropped the ball,” her sister asked her to step in. Not only did her sister expect her to plan the bridal shower and the bachelorette party — but the entire wedding too.
“I was a little offended because she only asked me after she saw what a great job I did for someone else,” she wrote.
She agreed to do the favor for her sister, provided her sister made her a bridesmaid. But her sister refused.
“She refused and said that I’d make the numbers off and that I didn’t have ‘the look’ she was trying to accomplish, which REALLY offended me,” the Reddit poster explained.
The Reddit poster then agreed on the condition that her sister pays her to be her wedding planner. So her sister “went crying” to their parents, who now think the Reddit poster is being unfair.
“My family is saying that I’m ruining her special day by being selfish and making it all about me, so I’m starting to doubt myself,” she wrote.
Redditors chimed in with their thoughts on the situation.
“What are you thinking? How could OP skip the wedding of the golden child?” a Redditor said sarcastically.
“I don’t get why the bride can’t make more effort herself?” a person wrote.
“The fact that your parents are siding with her after she said you didn’t fit the look is straight up ghoulish,” a user added.
