Singer Chris Daughtry's daughter Hannah Price, 25, found dead

Musician and former American Idol star Chris Daughtry and his wife are mourning the sudden death of their 25-year-old daughter, Hannah Price.

Ms Price was found dead in her Nashville home, in the US state of Tennessee, on Friday (local time), PEOPLE Magazine reported, and a representative for Chris said the investigation into her death was ongoing.

The cause of death has not been revealed.

Chris and his wife and Ms Price's mother, Deanna, shared tributes on their Instagrams, along with confirmation his band, Daughtry, would be postponing or cancelling upcoming shows.

"My first born. I love you endlessly Hannah," Deanna said.

"Our family would like to thank you all for the outpouring of love as we grieve the loss of our daughter Hannah.

"We are awaiting the autopsy results to determine how Hannah sustained the injuries that caused her death. Our hearts are broken."

Ms Price was Chris's stepdaughter and The New York Post reported her biological father died of suicide in 2018.

Second family death for Chris Daughtry

Chris said he was still processing the news of Ms Price's death.

"I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken," he wrote on Instagram.

Chris went on to say he recently lost his mother to cancer, but he was "blessed" he had the chance to say goodbye to her and process the loss.

However, he did not get that chance with his stepdaughter.

"We never got to say goodbye to our precious Hannah and it’s another huge hit to our family," Chris said.

"Hannah, I love you. I miss you. I wish I could hold you. This hurts so deeply."

Chris thanked people for their support and said he was taking time to be present with his family.

Daughtry, the band Chris fronts, had just started their tour in November and shows scheduled through until November 16 were expected to be rescheduled, NBC News reported.

The band also confirmed on Instagram the shows for the coming week would be cancelled or postponed, and thanked fans for their understanding.

"Due to the unexpected death of Chris and Deanna Daughtry's daughter, Hannah, all currently scheduled shows this weekend... have been postponed," the band said.

"The Daughtry family thanks you for your understanding."

Chris formed the band after competing on American Idol.
