Simon Cowell shocks after losing 27kg in 12 months

Simon Cowell has opened up about losing 27kg in the past 12 months, after choosing to follow a healthy lifestyle.

The 60-year-old Britain’s Got Talent judge said he’s been sticking to his regime throughout coronavirus lockdown and is exercising a lot more.

“I think I have dropped, since I started this diet a year ago, 60 pounds,” Simon told Terri Seymour in an interview for Extra.

"I'm doing a bit of cooking. I'm exercising. Funny enough, more during this time as well, sticking to the diet.”

However, Simon did say that he is tempted to break free from his healthy eating routine when his six-year-old son, Eric, decides what’s for dinner.

"The only difficult thing is when Eric orders a pizza . . . that's the number one thing I miss,” he said.

Simon’s transformation comes after he fell down the stairs last year during the night, which he claimed was a ‘wake-up call’.

“It wasn’t the end of the world – but a bit embarrassing,” Simon said at the time, in an interview with The Sun.

“If I’m honest with you, I was probably over-tired. I feel better this year than I do this time last year.”

It was reported that the 59-year-old has overhauled his diet after discovering a host of food allergies he was unaware of for most of his adult life.

The X Factor creator previously said he can't believe how good he looks since losing weight, as he managed to shave several inches from his waistline.

Back in January, Simon told The Sun that he adapted pretty quickly to his new lifestyle.

"The most dramatic period was the first month where most of the weight comes off and you look at yourself and think 'wow'. I used to be 36 inch waist and now I've lost four inches. I'm really happy now.

"You can drink this light beer but you've got to be sensible about quantities. I have loads more energy and feel great.

"All I do is avoid just red meat - white meat is fine - and I eat loads of vegetables, salads and drink this great beer. I'm on a diet but it doesn't feel like it now because the food I eat is really healthy and I don't find it tedious. If it's boring you won't stick to it."
