Shop attendant fights back against masked robbers with metal pole

A convenience store attendant has fought off three masked armed robbers in Melbourne, using a small pole to chase the trio out of his shop.

The three men entered the Dandenong store about 8pm on Saturday night with their faces covered and one of them aggressively struck a metal pole on the counter, police say.

But the 47-year-old shop attendant grabbed a pole of his own, one used to operate window shutters, and hit back at the trio, who fled with some chocolates and cigarettes.

The employee was left with non-life threatening injuries, police said, A 45-year-old woman was treated for minor injuries.
