Shocking moment woman kidnapped at Thai airport
CCTV has emerged of a woman falling victim to a well-orchestrated kidnapping plot moments after her flight landed.
Jincai Chen had just landed at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand following a short flight from Hong Kong when she was approached by four men and a woman.
Airport video shows the 39-year-old Chinese woman being escorted by a man and woman, while another clears a path by walking a few paces in front of them.
The trio can be seen ushering her through security with no objections before meeting another two men at the luggage carousel.
Police said after leaving the airport, they demanded $412,000 ($10 million Thai Baht) ransom from Ms Chen’s husband, News Corp reports.
But the gang, which was reportedly assisted by 10 people including a top immigration officer, had a change of heart and demanded a further $200,000.
He refused and called the police on May 18.
One day later, his wife was found safe after dumped on the roadside in the Bang Na district of Bangkok, two weeks after she was taken from the airport.
“Arrest warrants have been issued for four Chinese suspects who have already fled Thailand,” Police Major General Surachate Hakparn told local media.
“We know the identity of all the suspects and will be tracking them down for their involvement in the crime.”
