Shocking moment crashes into ute, causing it to flip into ditch

A car has been filmed crashing into a ditch following a shocking accident in the Northern Territory.

Video shared on Dash Cam Owners Australia’s Facebook page shows the Jeep Grand Cherokee travelling long the Stuart Highway about 10km south of Katherine moments before the shocking crash.

A semi-trailer sits in the left lane with its indicator on.

As the car passes it a Toyota Hilux pulls out from in front of the truck into the path of the Jeep.

The impact flips the Hilux over as it crashes into a ditch.

Luckily, according to the video’s caption, everyone walked away with “only minor cuts and bruises”.

“Moral of the story, if you can’t see, don’t go,” the caption reads.

The video has more than 126,000 views on Facebook.

Dash Cam Owners Australia videos often divides opinion as to who’s at fault for a car accident, but in this instance, it was almost unanimous that users believed the ute made a mistake.

“Old mate in the white duel cab failed to give way. Simple as that,” one user said.

Another added the Hilux driver shouldn’t have turned onto the highway until the semi-trailer completed its turn.

Others suggested the Hilux driver didn’t have a view of oncoming traffic, which may have been impeded by the truck.
