'Shocking, cowardly and cruel': Video shows teens bashing kangaroo with plank and laughing
WARNING – DISTURBING CONTENT: Sickening mobile footage has emerged of Perth teenagers bashing a kangaroo with a plank of wood and laughing as the helpless animal tries to protect itself.
In the footage, described by WA Police as “shocking, cowardly and cruel”, a teenager is armed with a plank of wood as he swings several times at a helpless kangaroo that is already lying on the ground.
Whoever is recording the footage finds it funny and can be heard chuckling while his mates brutally beat the animal.
At one point the kangaroo holds up its paw in a futile attempt to protect itself.
The footage appears to have been filmed at Kalamunda’s Zig Zag trail, east of Perth, earlier this week, before it was shared to Snapchat where the clip disappears once it has been viewed.

Midland Police are investigating the incident, while RSPCA chief inspector Amanda Swift has urged anyone who received the footage to dob the culprits in to authorities.
“It’s just the most abhorrent cruelty again to an iconic animal,” she said.
“I would ask… the people who know the people in the video, and whoever has taken it and shared it to come forward and let us know who they are.”
