Shock as Nazi symbol spotted at busy beach
A TikTok video has captured the horrific sight of a young man sporting a Nazi swastika while at a popular Australian beach.
Jewish man Jay Lazarus uploaded the video from Hillary Boat Harbour north of Perth to his TikTok channel, writing: “In Hillarys Boat Harbour today with hundreds kids around … this, disgusting human walking around.”
The swastika symbol is painted on the man’s back with sunscreen and he can be seen walking casually out in the sun.
The harbour is adjacent to Sorrento Beach, popular with families.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mr Lazarus said he took the footage after the man walked by him and his nephew.
“This young guy walk past me and I was like, ‘hang on a second, what is that?’” Mr Lazarus said.
“I just grabbed my godson and picked him up and walk away. There were a lot of people around us, I didn’t want to get involved.
“I don’t want to be anywhere near what could potentially go down with this sort of hate crime.”
NCA NewsWire understands the man did not know the symbol was on his back because his friend painted it on him as a prank.
When the man became aware of what was on his back, it is understood he put on his shirt and left the area.
The Perth beach incident came a day after three men allegedly performed Nazi salutes outside Sydney’s Jewish Museum.
Officers were called to Darlinghurst Road in Darlinghurst shortly before midday on Friday where they arrested three men, aged 30, 31 and 40.
They have each been charged with behaving in an offensive manner near a public place/school and knowingly displaying by public act a Nazi symbol without excuse.
On October 9, a pro-Palestine rally at the Sydney Opera House collapsed into anti-Semitism with a group in the crowd chanting: “f**k the Jews” and “gas the Jews”.
