Shock moment bikies attack rider
Shocking new dashcam footage shows the moment a Mongols OMCG bikie gang member allegedly attacked an L-plate rider on a busy freeway.
The footage, which was captured on dashcam at 12.15pm on October 19, shows a Mongols member attempting to punch and kick at an L-plate rider as a gang of five bikies ride past him on Melbourne’s Monash Freeway.
The L-plate rider swerves to avoid the apparently random punch, with other cars streaming past on the busy freeway.
“All OMCG members are travelling at a high rate of speed along the freeway,” the police said on Monday.
“The unidentified rider was forced to take evasive action to avoid being assaulted and forced off his motorcycle.
“Investigators have been unable to identify the victim and are keen to speak him.”
Detectives are calling on anyone who was travelling on the freeway at 12.15pm on October 19 and who may have footage of the incident to come forward.
Echo Taskforce detective acting inspector Alan Rumble called the behaviour of the Mongols “completely unacceptable.”
“This is completely unacceptable behaviour by an outlaw motorcycle gang, thinking they are above the law and putting innocent members of our community at risk,” he said.
“Targeting an innocent L-plate motorbike rider who was simply going about his day is seriously reckless and cowardly behaviour.
“We have made it a priority to follow up every avenue of inquiry available to us and to hold those responsible to account.
“If you have dashcam footage of this incident or you witnessed it, please get in touch with police.
“We are not intimidated by outlaw motorcycle gangs and we will not allow our community to be either.”
