After being cut by the Washington Mystics this season, who could imagine that Phoenix Mercury point guard Shey Peddy would sink the game winner to send the defending WNBA champions home Tuesday night.
The 31-year-old helped her side go on an impressive 17-0 run early in the final quarter to take their first lead of the game. Teammate Skylar Diggins-Smith launched an impressive ball cross-court, which found Peddy with seconds left. The Boston native scored the decisive triple to lift Phoenix 85-84 in Bradenton, Florida. The Mercury have a date with the Minnesota Lynx in the second round on Thursday.
Fans of Peddy who wish to commemorate her shot can do so in style. BreakingT just dropped a brand-new shirt in her honor and it’s quickly selling out. Peddy’s silhouette is drawn in the center, with her arms up and back turned. Surrounding that image are the words “So Peddy” written in burnt orange atop the shirt’s purple base. Underneath reads “Phoenix,” representing the star’s team.
Given their persistence throughout the entire postseason, Peddy, Diggins-Smith, Diana Taurasi and company have a serious chance to be this year’s champions. Celebrate their accomplishments thus far and grab your own So Peddy tee. Priced at $28 each, we linked the product below. You can shop that and other WNBA gear on BreakingT.
