An unlikely hero has saved a number of kittens trapped in a storm drain.
Harvey, a dog living in an animal shelter in Wilmington in the US state of Delaware for the past four years, came to the rescue when he noticed the trapped cats.
A Facebook post from Faithful Friends Animal Society said Harvey stood near the drain and barked to get his handler’s attention after sniffing out the kittens.
“After alerting the cat department at the shelter, Faithful Friends team was able to pull the kitten out of the drain, but had a feeling there were more to be found,” the post said.
“After doing their best to see and draw out any other kittens, they were unsuccessful.”
However, two weeks after the first kitten was found, the two others were rescued.
“The kittens were saved just in time as the area was hit with a long spell of rain the next few days,” the post said.
The animal shelter have since named the kittens Beta, Brie and Brewster.
The kittens, along with Harvey and his impressive sense of smell, are all looking for their forever homes.
