A seven-month-old baby girl was mauled to death by the family dog while in foster care.
Florida infant Khloe Williams was placed in foster care in May. Her licensed foster parent was a detective at the Clearwater Police Department in Florida.
She was at the home of her foster father’s parents when the Pitbull mixed-breed dog named Lynnie, attacked the infant on October 5.
The baby girl was taken to Mease Countryside hospital where she later died.
“She’s not even big enough to walk or crawl or anything, to even be able to mess with a dog,” the infant’s biological mother, Shavon Grossman told local outlet Fox7.
“I don’t understand how she was even around a dog that could do this.”
The dog was taken by local animal control and is being held on a 10-day rabies quarantine, according to local outlet WFLA.
Local police and the Department of Children and Families are investigating.
