Long weekend weather: Seven days of wet weather predicted
After a brief reprieve from the wet weather, the east coast of Australia is set to be lashed with rain yet again over the Anzac Day long weekend.
Seven of rain have been forecast for areas of Queensland and New South Wales — although meteorologists are saying it won't be the belting flood-stricken areas received last time.
Miriam Bradbury from the Bureau of Meteorology told Yahoo News Australia rain has been forecast for the next seven days and will mainly impact the north coast of Queensland.
"A low pressure trough over the western coral sea very close to the northeast Queensland coast directing significant moisture onshore," she explained. "So that's just producing significant areas of rainfall".
Ms Bradbury said the area between Cairns and Townsville is expected to receive the most rain, with a heavy rain warning issued from the Daintree village to Rollingstone.
"[There's a] risk of very high rain rates tonight, all through tomorrow and then even into Saturday as well which could cause flash flooding to people in those areas," she said.
The risk for Queenslanders on the North Tropical Coast will shift ffrom flash flooding to the risk of riverine flooding heading into the weekend, but the rain should begin to ease off after that.
"We're going to see a continuation of the weather pretty much all through the Anzac Day weekend," Ms Bradury said.
"The heaviest falls are really going to be the early part of the weekend and then it should ease off after that."

NSW can expect 10-20mm of rain
New South Wales residents can expect a bit of rain with the onshore flow from the low pressure trough bringing some showers through over the weekend.
"While it's not looking like a dry weekend we're also not expecting very high rainfalls," Ms Bradbury explained.
"Each day we could see around two to 10 millimetres across the New South Wales coast with some isolated higher falls sort of about the northeast very quickly."
The rainfall predicted on the northeast NSW coast will be more isolated and heavier than the rain in Queensland.
"So it's quite likely that we will see some dry patches —particularly around the Sydney area — and the south coast through the weekend as well," Ms Bradbury said.
"So it's not it's not going to be a completely grey weekend, but it's not going to be a completely sunny weekend either."
