On Feb. 9, Sephora announced the 2021 cohort for its Accelerate incubator program. For the first time ever, all eight of the selected brands are founders of color.
The cohort will participate in Sephora-led curriculum, training and support that lasts for several months. Additionally, each brand will receive mentorship from other beauty brand founders (like Vicky Tsai of Tatcha and Nancy Twine of Briogeo), as well as feedback from and exposure to leading investment firms and venture capitalists.
When the program is complete, each brand will launch at Sephora. As In The Know previously reported, Sephora was one of the first major retailers to sign the 15% Pledge back in 2020. The pledge pushes for retailers to have, at minimum, 15 percent of its inventory dedicated to Black-owned businesses and brands.

Glory is a clean skincare brand that focuses on melanin-rich skin.
4. Hyper Skin
Hyper Skin is a targeted skin care brand that tackles dark spots and discoloration on all skin tones.
Imania Beauty is a hemp and wellness-conscious brand designed for textured hair.
6. Kulfi Beauty
Kulfi Beauty is on a mission to challenge toxic beauty standards in South Asian culture with approachable products designed around South Asian skin tones and undertones.
ries offers reusable, leak-proof TSA-friendly travel containers made of biodegradable material.
Topicals focuses its products around effective skin care for common skin issues and mental health advocacy.
