The secret Woolies Christmas promo stunning lucky shoppers

Santa’s elves appear to be masquerading as Woolworths supermarket staff surprising shoppers with random acts of kindness in the lead-up to Christmas.

From free Christmas hams to trolley-fulls of toys, shoppers around the country have been treated to gifts via the secret ’25 days of Christmas promo’.

The campaign runs in the 24 days leading up to Christmas, a Woolworths spokesman said, but the promotion is not advertised and varies from store to store.

Customers have been posting about the windfalls on Facebook.

“I was at a Woolies yesterday (Bracken Ridge Qld) and they stopped an old lady shopping next to me and gave her all the meat in her trolley free,” one shopper posted on Facebook on Sunday.

“They dived on her the second she put a Christmas ham in her trolley.

“Woolies gave my mum a free bunch of flowers last week,” one customer posted on Facebook on Sunday.

“My friend got stopped in Woolies last Christmas and was given a whole trolley of toys!” another wrote.

“Our purpose is to bring a little good to everyone everyday, and our store teams have been surprising our customers and the local community at Christmas with random acts of kindness for a number of years,” Woolworths General Manager of Store Support, Rob Moffat, said.

“The activities are all decided on by stores and in the 24 days leading up to Christmas, teams right across the country have been supporting local charities with hampers, visiting local community groups to provide additional helping hands and supported fundraising towards our hunger relief partner OzHarvest.”

Mr Moffat said it was a way for Woolworths to bring “smiles and joy” to customers.

It comes after Woolworths released its own Christmas mini-collection ahead of the festive season after the huge success of competitor Coles’ Little Shop campaign.
