A second man has been charged following the alleged assault and shooting of a man in Sydney's southwest in September.

A man presented to Canterbury Hospital on the evening of September 25 with injuries to his face and a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police officers were later led to a shop in Belmore, where they believe the incident took place.

A 25-year-old man was charged on September 26 and is before the courts, while detectives on Thursday arrested a 35-year-old man at a Punchbowl home.

The man has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in the company of others, being an accessory to discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and detaining a person in company.

He has been refused bail and is due to appear before Burwood Local Court on Friday.
