Second $35m lotto winner comes forward and reveals plans for jackpot

Six families in Victoria’s northeast have a pretty decent excuse for blowing off work this morning after learning they have won $35 million in Tuesday night’s Oz Lotto jackpot.

The private syndicate of six families held one of the two division one winning entries in the draw – the biggest in five years. The other was held by a NSW man who said he will now be travelling “at the pointy end of the plane”.

While trips to Europe are on the cards for some, other members of the Victorian syndicate have already started planning some rather modest upgrades to their houses, including a new water tank and new washing machine.

Exactly who claimed the second life-changing ticket remained a mystery overnight, with The Lott officials unable to contact the family after their contact details were left incomplete.

However, that mystery ended abruptly when one woman, surrounded by her family, came forward with the winning numbers.

“Oh my god… there’s six of us in the syndicate and everyone will be excited to know it’s all official. It actually ends up benefiting six families,” she told a Lott official.

“We’ve had a group chat going all morning about how we are each going to spend our share of the win.

“We are planning a holiday to Europe to visit family and there is talk of celebrating a milestone birthday next year on a cruise… we’re going to do heaps of stuff.”

Lithgow man to hang up the boots early

A hardworking blue-collar Lithgow man will now be able to retire earlier than expected after discovering he held the other division one winning ticket.

The man, aged in his 50s, was completely unaware of his win until an official from The Lott made contact with him immediately after last night’s draw.

“Oh fair dinkum? You’re kidding?! That is the best news I’ve had in a long time. Hallelujah!” he exclaimed in disbelief.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa! That’s hard to process. I’m speechless… that has blown me away, that is just great. Thank you, thank you, thank you – just awesome.”

Once the mind-blowing news began to sink in, the hardworking man started to speculate how he might use his $35 million Oz Lotto windfall.

“It goes without saying I’ll be helping the kids out and I’m sure my retirement plans will be fast-tracked,” he declared.

“I’ll tell you what – my next holiday will be at the pointy end of the plane!

In addition to the two division one winning entries, more than 1.17 million prizes worth more than $26.4 million were won in divisions two to seven across Australia.

There is still a chance for Australians to become overnight multi-millionaires this week, with tomorrow’s Powerball offering a massive $80 million division one prize.

The winning numbers drawn Tuesday night were 31, 26, 15, 21, 14, 24 and 40. The supplementary numbers were 33 and 3.
