Authorities have resumed searching for a spearfisherman swept off rocks and into the ocean on the NSW mid north coast.
The 52-year-old was fishing with his son at Laggers Point near Trial Bay Gaol at South West Rocks on Thursday afternoon. The pair were in water when a large wave pushed them onto rocks about 1pm.
The father was then swept back into the water and has not been seen since, police say, despite desperate search efforts on Thursday.
Officers from NSW Police, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Marine Rescue, NSW Ambulance, NSW Surf Life Saving and local lifeguards on Friday resumed searching for the man.
He was wearing a wetsuit, one flipper and a snorkel when he went missing.
An inflatable rescue boat and rescue water craft have released a dye pack to track the water's drift pattern, Surf Life Saving said on Thursday.
