Emergency services are searching for a man after reports a group of people went swimming in Cornwall and one man did not return to land, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a search was launched at 22:00 BST on Tuesday after reports of the incident off Northcott Mouth, Bude, were received.

The search continued on Wednesday and the man's family have been made aware of the incident, according to a post on Bude Police's Facebook page, which also urged people not to speculate about the incident.

A coastguard spokesperson said rescue teams from Bude and Hartland had been joined by RNLI crews and coastguard helicopters to help with the search.
