Search for man who 'bashed delivery driver with a torch'

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT. Victoria Police are hunting an attacker who they say seriously beat a 33-year-old man with a torch in St Kilda East early Sunday morning.

A delivery driver was working in Wilgah Street when he was approached by an unknown man about 3.40am who verbally abused the victim before assaulting him.

The driver was punched to the head and bashed with a torch, police said.

The offender left the victim, from Point Cook, lying unconscious on the road and fled the scene.

The victim received serious head injuries and remains in hospital.

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and have released a digital image of a man that may assist with their enquiries.
