Search expanded for missing dad
Police have widened the search for a missing father one day after it was announced that homicide detectives would join the investigation.
Brett Orme was last seen by family on August 11 at Odense Street in Fitzgibbon leaving in a white Nissan Navara.
The 54-year-old made contact with his family two days later and police have discovered he was present at Iron Bark Gully, Samford, at 12:40pm on that same day.
Police made the discovery after his phone was found discarded in the area and handed into police, according to Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham.
“Mr Orme has taken a photograph of himself at Ironbark Gully,” Detective Superintendent Massingham said.
“It is then very unclear as to what occurs between [there] and the location of his vehicle.
“The vehicle is seen entering Deep Water Bend [at Bald Hills] just after 7pm on that night [and] was in the vicinity … for some three-and-a-half hours before it leaves, only for three or four minutes, and then again is seen [returning] around midnight.”
Police have spent Tuesday searching the bush area where his car was last seen as well as where he took the photo of himself at Iron Bark Gully.
Officers located Mr Orme’s car at the Tinchi Tamba wetlands in Bald Hills, 20km away from where his phone was found, on August 19.
They are now appealing for anyone who may have seen Mr Orme or the white Nissan Navara with Queensland registration 354 WAN between August 11 and August 19 in the Greater Brisbane area to come forward.
Mr Orme is described as caucasian, approximately 180 centimetres tall, with short brown hair and blue eyes. He is believed to be wearing a high-visibility trade polo shirt.
