Woman's terrifying encounter as 'fake police try to enter her home'

Police are searching for two men who are believed to have impersonated police officers to enter a woman's home.

The men attempted to enter a woman's east London home at 6.15pm on Tuesday (local time), claiming they were there to search it.

The men were captured on camera and are said to have dressed up in "crude" police uniforms, including police caps, harnesses, purple disposable gloves and dark clothing, police in the UK said.

Refused to show ID

In the video circulating online, the woman can be heard repeatedly asking the men for ID as they hide their faces from the camera.

They refuse to show her any identification, one claiming they are not required to show one.

"Show me your ID, show me your ID… to come into my house, show me it's safe," she says. "Show me your face".

They continue to refuse to prove they are police, attempting to grab the woman's phone to stop her from filming, as one pulls out a baton.

They then leave as the interaction gets more heated, as the woman and a man, not pictured on the video, film them as they walk away.

The men accuse the woman of selling cannabis as they walk away and her husband of being aggressive.

"Misunderstanding coming in my house like that. You come in like a terrorist," the woman says.

"I told you to explain... you went by force in my house."

"Where is the warrant?"

One of the men then appears to call for back-up, speaking into a radio saying "She stalking me down the road".

"Yeah I'm stalking you," she says. "Because you're going to go in court for this".

They then run away as the video cuts off.

Police are aware of the video

The incident comes just weeks after London police officer Wayne Couzens was sentenced to life in prison for the kidnap of Sarah Everard under the guise of a Covid breach before raping and murdering her.

Metropolitan Police said they're aware of a video circulating appearing to show two men impersonating police officers in east London. The incident took place in Barking on October 12.

"Officers attended and conducted an area search but the males could not be located," a statement read.

"It is not believed that anything was stolen from the address and there were no reports of any physical injuries.

"An investigation is ongoing. There have been no arrests at this time."
