Restaurant owner's brutal response to customer's two-star TripAdvisor review

A restaurant owner appears to have hit back at a negative review on TripAdvisor by shaming the customer who left it.

The woman who shared the review, Clare P, claimed the owners were “very rude” and the experience was “rushed”. She then went on the criticise the portion sizes.

“Starters were very small about 3 pieces of pakora each,” she wrote.

“Chicken tikka came on a plate with a small cup of rice.

“Was basically three small pieces of chicken.”

Clare then went on to claim the fudge cake for dessert was “thinner than a slice of bread”.

“Absolutely the worst ever Indian restaurant. You get what you pay for and even at the price felt like a rip off,” she said.

The owner of Shimla Cottage in Coatbridge Scotland appears to have ruthlessly hit back: “£3.50 (AU$6.28) for 3 courses have you no shame?

“Judging by the waist line of most of your party I could have served them a whole cow and they would have still left hungry.”

The owner then suggested if the customer wanted bigger portions, they should have ordered from the main menu.

“Oh, that’s right that would have been too expensive. It’s people like you who spoil a good thing for everyone.

“Don’t bother coming back.”

The negative review appears to be deleted, but screenshots of the exchange have been shared on social media by Twitter user @Tam_Selleck.

The restaurant has an overall 4.0 out of five rating on TripAdvisor.

“We pride ourselves to offer great value for money by providing top quality food, efficient service, friendship and a warm welcome to our customers,” the restaurant description reads.

While some people seemed to have jumped on TripAdvisor to give their two cents on the matter, since the review went viral, this isn’t the first time the owner has been particularly brutal when responding to a bad review.

In May this year, one person rated the restaurant one star and said she ordered king prawns, which were allegedly “so small and rubbery”.

The woman said her prawns “traumatised” her.

“Am not sure how we traumatised you, were you hoping to achieve supernatural powers after eating the prawns?” the owner asked.

“Like Popeye does after he devourers a tin of spinach.”

Another person in March 2019 had a “pretty awful meal”, saying there were “hardly any prawns in main dish”.

“HARDLY ANY TRUTH IN YOUR REVIEW (sic),” the owner said.

“The truth is that like many others before you and I imagine many many more after you these reviews are more to satisfy your own personal EGOS (sic).”

However some people are impressed by the restaurant and perhaps the savage responses.

“Great food at great prices with a large helping of comedy gold thrown in for free. This place is a must-visit!” a satisfied customer wrote after the screenshots went viral.

“Get in now before it becomes too famous – there are already queues out the door.”

Earlier this year a bar in northwest England ripped into a customer who left a one-star review on Trip Advisor.

On Facebook, the bar called the customer “sexually frustrated”, a “twat” and had “an obvious fetish for over 70s pornography”.

In June this year, a plastic surgeon got a $500,000 pay out, after a client left a defamatory review up on Google.

She was also forbidden from posting a similar Google review about the surgeon or creating a website about the surgeon.
