School brings in 'Adulting Day', teaching students how to pay bills, change a tyre

A school has introduced ‘Adulting Day’, teaching students basic life skills such as paying bills and changing tyres after parents complained about their incompetent kids on social media.

Year 12 students at Bullitt Central High School in Kentucky, south east US, were forced to learn skills including cooking, changing tyres and managing money at the ‘Adulting Day’ event on Wednesday.

The classes were designed to prepare the Generation Z students for life in the outside world.

A local youth centre devised the event after local parents complained about their childrens’ lack of practical knowledge on Facebook.

“I think that the idea occurred to me originally, I saw a Facebook post that parents passed around saying they needed a class in high school on taxes, and cooking,” Christy Hardin, director of the BCHS Family Resource & Youth Services Centre told local outlet KGW8.

The teens were also taught about how to handle home sickness and about interacting with police officers during traffic stops.
