Santa trapped in power lines after going for a ride in his 'sleigh'

A man dressed as Santa found himself in a spot of trouble after his ‘sleigh’ got caught in power lines.

Santa got tangled up in Rio Linda, California, according to the local fire department.

Luckily, they were able to free him after using a cherry picker to get him down.

“We are happy to report Santa is uninjured and will be ready for Christmas next week, but perhaps with a new sleigh,” the fire department tweeted.

Fire captain Christopher Vestal told CNN the man informed the crew he was in the area to deliver candy canes to the kids.

Santa wasn’t using his typical sleigh on this occasion though – he was travelling via parachute with a motor to propel himself.

Mr Vestal added Santa’s restraints “prevented him from injury and likely saved not only Santa's life, but Christmas”.

The fire department doesn’t know how he ended up stuck in the power lines though.
