Woman bashed and spat on by man who refused to pick up dog's waste

A woman was brutally punched in the face and spat on during an altercation with a man over his dog on Tuesday.

The 68-year-old woman was seriously assaulted at the Sandgate foreshore at around 7am, according to Queensland police.

Officers claim the man spat on the woman before punching her in the face, causing her to lose consciousness and fall to the ground.

Investigators believe the altercation began when the woman asked the man to pick up after his dog, a Queensland Police spokesperson confirmed to Yahoo News Australia.

The 68-year-old was transported to hospital. Police have yet to formally interview her.
