SA Minister calls for removal of offensive camper slogans

South Australia’s Minister for Women says certain slogans painted on popular rental campervans are offensive and should be removed.

While some of the naughty jokes on the fleet of spray painted campervans get a giggle, few are amused at some of the more extreme slogans.

An online petition calling for Wicked Campers to remove misogynistic and degrading slogans and imagery has so far gathered more than 120,000 signatures.

Now Minister for the Status of Women Gail Gago is urging the company to rethink its marketing.

“They show a great deal of poor taste and poor judgement,” she said.

Regulators have slammed the business previously over slogans, but it is not breaking the law.

“It is extremely difficult to legislate against all stupidity and bad taste,” the minister said.

The company said it is all in good humour and is not trying to target anyone, but it adds, any publicity is good publicity.
