Sexual asault at North Adelaide

Police are investigating a sexual assault after a woman was attacked at North Adelaide overnight.

They say the 23-year-old was walking on Gover St, away from O’Connell St, at about midnight last night when she was attacked.

The suspect is described as Caucasian with an olive complexion, thin build, oval-shaped face with thin lips, about 175cm tall and aged in his 30s.

He is also described as having brown or dark brown eyes and being bald or having a closely-shaved haircut.

The victim also said the man had a husky but calm voice.

Police have appealed for help in identifying the alleged attacker.

"The victim has been able to give police a good description and account of what occurred,” Detective Sergeant Simon Bell said.

“We hope that someone will know this man and come forward so we can solve this horrendous crime.

“We're asking anyone who has seen a man fitting this description, or anyone acting suspiciously in and around the North Adelaide area overnight, to contact Crime Stoppers immediately on 1800 333 000 or the Police Assistance Line on 131444.”

Police have urged people to take care when they are out at night.

"People should have the right to walk safely down a street at night, but we're asking that people pay attention of their personal safety at all times,” Det. Sgt Bell said.

“We encourage people to walk in well-lit areas and with friends if possible.”

The alleged attacker is described as wearing a light blue jumper with white drawstrings and white writing across the front, with a light-coloured shirt underneath, along with dark pants.

Police say they will examine the possibility of any links to other recent sexual assaults in the Adelaide area.
