Father's shocking alleged attack on teenager who 'spat' at his daughter

A South Australian father who lashed out at a teenager who spat at one of his children has apologised for his actions.

The 45-year-old man arrived at Port Augusta court on Tuesday to answer to the disturbing attack, which was captured on camera.

Outside court he was tight-lipped, but he had plenty to say during the confronting video.

"If you start punching my son, I'm going to smash your f***ing face in," he can be heard saying.

He and his 14-year-old son chased down the teenager, accusing him of spitting on his daughter.

Demanding the teen get down on his knees and apologise, the father then allegedly threatens the teen.

"You know what's going to happen to your family if I ever hear you say any f***ing thing again?

"I'm going to come to your f***ing house mate and it's going to be f***ing hell, you got it?"

His demeanour was vastly different after he emerged from his first court appearance, telling 7 News he was "very sorry" for his actions.

Both he and his son have been charged with aggravated assault.

The victim's mother is angry and says she wants justice.

"Even if it wasn't my son, if it happened to another child, I still would have been outraged," she said.

"For an adult to do that to a minor, it shouldn't happen."

The man had his head down throughout the brief hearing.

He remains on bail and will be back in court at the end of the month.
