Fears missing SA mum, 23, murdered after 'getting agitated and storming off from her husband'

South Australia Police fear a missing mother of two has been murdered.

Tanja Ebert, 23, was last seen on August 8, according to her husband, when she got out of her family car at Roseworthy, north of Adelaide, and left him with her two boys, aged one and three.

She also left behind her personal possessions including her passport, purse and phone.

Her husband told police his wife got agitated as the family headed home to a country station at Mannahill. She then reportedly got out of the car and walked off.

Detective Superintendent OIC Des Bray said officers searched the area near Roseworthy and found “no trace” of Ms Ebert.

Det Supt Bray said police were aware of issues in the couple’s marriage.

“However at this time we are keeping an open mind with regard to suspects,” he said.

“As with matters of this type, we are making inquiries to rule out the involvement of those who saw her last.

“Unfortunately there have been no signs that she is alive, and we fear she has been murdered.”

On Wednesday, police released footage of the last sighting of the 23-year-old at the South Australian Museum with her family about 3.20pm on August 8 - about 50km south of Roseworthy.

Ms Ebert, a German citizen, moved to Australia in 2012 where she married her husband.

A relative reported her missing on August 11.

“We have grave fears that she has been murdered, although we’re holding out some slim hope that we’re wrong,” Det Supt Bray said.

“Over the coming days we were unable to find anything consistent with her being alive, for example no contact with friends, no Facebook posts.”

Police continued to search the area where Ms Ebert was last seen on Wednesday along with the couple’s home at Oulnina Station.

They have also liaised with Ms Ebert’s family and the German Embassy.
