WATCH: Car leaves road and hits running Adelaide pedestrian

A man has been charged with driving without due care after pedestrian was knocked into the air after a car appeared to drive straight towards them on an Adelaide street.

A 38-year-old Andrews Farm man was hit by the red sedan at Elizabeth at about 10.30am, according to South Australia Police.

CCTV footage of the incident shows a person in blue running across Elizabeth Way at Elizabeth as a red sedan approaches.

As the man leaves the road, the vehicle also does so, hitting the person as they cross onto the footpath.

The car ploughed into a nearby shop after hitting the man.

After being knocked several metres through the air, the injured man amazingly appears to remain conscious, struggling to get up.

The victim has been taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

A 52-year-old Elizabeth Downs man has been reported and summonsed to face court.
