Curious kangaroo gives open home tick of approo-val

When real estate agent Jemma Turner promised rural lifestyle, she didn't mean inside the home.

An open inspection at a house in Adelaide’s Fleurieu Peninsula attracted an unexpected looker, who thought it was the right time to hop into the property market.

When Ms Turner opened her lower Inman Valley listing to potential buyers, she wasn't expecting Skippy to turn up.

A kangaroo, carrying her joey, hopped along and was captured on camera checking out the property.

“There was basically a kangaroo right next to the kitchen with a joey in its pouch,” the agent said.

Potential buyer Katye Ward and her daughter Hannah filmed the young mum with her growing family at the property on Saturday.

Hannah told 7 News she initially feared the marsupial was going to attack them trying to protect her joey, but soon realised it was just coming to take a look around.

"Oh my God, it's so cute," she recalled thinking.

“It was very calm and relaxed. I've never had a kangaroo come so close,” her mother added

The kanga showed herself from room to room, but didn't mind some friendly bidding competition.

Ms Ward told the curious roo couldn't help taking a peek inside the open door.

"There were a couple of kangaroos already out in the yard so it obviously just hopped in,” she said.

The visitor went down one of the hallways into the laundry then she walked into the master bedroom and just hopped back out into the living area, the agent said.

“Once she came inside past the kitchen she went down one of the hallways into the laundry then she walked into the master bedroom and just hopped back out into the living area.”

And who could blame the marsupial for being interested.

“It's got plenty of land for them all to run around on and a dam as well so there's definitely lots there that they could enjoy,” Ms Turner said.

“The kangaroo just followed [the potential buyers] out and I was able to close up the home so I could move on to my next open.”

She gave the house her sniff of app-roo-val, and with a hop, skip, and thump, mum and joey were on their way.
