Venomous snakes unaccounted for following unit fire

At least ten reptiles remain unaccounted for following a fire in an Adelaide unit.

It's thought the fire at the unit on Douglas Avenue, Reynella broke out this morning and four of the snakes that are outstanding are venomous.

So far 11 reptiles have been recovered, including three venomous snakes and four lizards.

An Eastern Brown, an Inland Taipan and a Stephen's Banded snake are among those already found.

It is believed the owner of the unit is currently out of town.

Nearby residents have reportedly been told to be on alert until all the animals had been accounted for.

MFS Fire Cause Investigators have been on scene this morning, combing for any of the missing animals.

The cause of the blaze is still being investigated.
