Man with imitation gun sparks police search in Adelaide CBD

A man reported with a weapon in Adelaide's CBD has sparked a police search, attracting Special Task and Rescue Group (STAR) officers, and the lockdown of Adelaide High School Monday afternoon.

Police have arrested and charged a 43-year-old man from Adelaide with a number of firearm offences after he was allegedly found in possession of an imitation firearm.

Just after 1:00pm police were alerted to a man wandering in the CBD allegedly armed with a firearm.

The man was found just over an hour later at a housing complex near Light Square allegedly in possession of an imitation gun.

During the search Adelaide High School was locked down as a precaution.

The man has been charged with create false belief, carrying an offensive weapon, possession of an imitation firearm without a licence and unlawful possession.
