Adelaide father David Janzow pleads not guilty to murdering 3yo son

A father accused of stabbing his three-year-old son to death has pleaded not guilty to murder during a court hearing in Adelaide.

David Janzow, 37, of Stepney in the eastern suburbs, faced Adelaide Magistrates Court via a video link from the secure mental health facility, James Nash House.

A defence lawyer urged the court to investigate whether Janzow was mentally competent to have committed the alleged offence, last July.

Janzow, who operated two landscape businesses, is accused of stabbing his son in the cabin of his utility, then driving to Athelstone where he alerted a police patrol.

There is to be a Supreme Court hearing of the case in April.
