Man charged with assault over punch outside court

One of the people accused of taking part in the multi-million theft of parts from Holden has been charged with assault after allegedly attacking a cameraman outside court.

Jason Gangell was in the Adelaide District Court this morning supporting Michelle Rose, one of his six co-accused.

Today Rose pleaded guilty to nine counts of laundering nearly $60,000.

As the pair left court, Gangell allegedly punched 7News cameraman Andrew Foote in the face.

Gangell is one of seven people charged over a $2.5 million V8 engine and transmission racket at Holden’s Elizabeth plant.

He has pleaded not guilty to 161 charges of money laundering and one count of theft.

Four of the accused have now admitted their role in the parts heist, with one of those currently serving six years jail.

Gangell has been charged with assault over this morning’s incident.

Mr Foote was taken to hospital and is recovering from a fractured cheekbone.
