A quokka stolen from Adelaide Zoo on Monday has been found and returned safe, with the RSPCA and Adelaide Zoo now on the hunt for the culprit.

The hand-reared quokka was rescued by the RSPCA after a tip-off from a member of the public.

It is believed Lilly, a feature of the zoos’ native fauna park, was taken sometime on Monday afternoon or evening.

Adelaide Zoo and the RSPCA are calling on the public to help identify a thief who stole Lilly.

She has been returned to the zoo this afternoon and has been given a once-over by vets and released into quarantine.
