A man has been arrested after an alleged high-speed chase in Adelaide’s western suburbs ended when his vehicle ran out of fuel.

Police say patrols spotted a Nissan speeding on Torrens Rd at Croydon just before midnight, but the driver allegedly refused to stop and they gave chase.

After 13 minutes of the alleged pursuit, the car came to a stop after running out of fuel, and the driver was arrested without incident, police say.

The 22-year-old Croydon West man was charged with engaging in a police pursuit, driving at speed and manner dangerous to the public and breaching his probationary licence.

He was bailed to appear in court and the Nissan was impounded for 28 days.
