Man charged over alleged cattle prod attack

Police have arrested a man over an alleged home invasion at Smithfield, in Adelaide's northern suburbs, earlier this month.

It is alleged the man broke into the house on October 6 with a second man and threatened the occupants with a cattle prod and crow bar, before allegedly stealing items from the home.

The 29-year-old Burton man has been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated assault, theft and aggravated assault causing harm.

Police allege he is part of the gang that targeted 13 homes in the northern suburbs in five weeks.

The man appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court this afternoon and did not apply for bail.

His name and image have been suppressed.

Police said they have established Operation Zeal to target those responsible for the series of home invasions.

They said part of that operation will be investigating whether the arrested man has links to any similar incidents.
