Motorists urged to fill up the tank

Petrol prices are set to drop to their lowest price in 18 months this weekend and motorists are being urged to take advantage.

Some suburban petrol stations are already offering fuel below $1.20 a litre.

Andrew Clark from the Royal Automobile Association of South Australia (RAA) says motorists should be filling up now.

“You could see some outlets at $1.18 to $1.19, but generally on average we suggest they will be hovering around $1.21 to $1.22,” he told 7News.

“What we would recommend to motorists to do would be fill up today, tomorrow and Sunday morning.”

The joy of cheaper fuel will be short lived, with prices expected to be back at around $1.40 a litre by Monday.
