SA man refused bail over mutilated dog

An Adelaide man has been remanded in custody on animal cruelty charges after police found the remains of a mutilated dog at a northern suburbs property.

James Rech, 19, appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with ill-treatment to cause death or serious harm to an animal, property damage and carrying an offensive weapon.

The court was told RSPCA inspectors had gone to the Hampstead Gardens home and seized a number of body parts of the dog.

Rech will return to court in July.
