SA gets $16m more in skills funding

More apprenticeships and traineeship opportunities will be available in South Australia with an additional $16 million in federal funding allocated under its Skilling Australians program.

The extra money follows the $87 million federal funding already provided to the state under the scheme, alongside $100 million in state funding to increase jobs as the state prepares for a defence industry construction boom.

"There is a defence jobs tsunami headed towards South Australia and we have the opportunity to ride that wave if we ensure people have the right skills for those jobs," SA Minister for Industry and Skills David Pisoni said in a statement on Wednesday.
