Ryan Phelan

Ryan Phelan joined the Seven News team as the 6pm weekend sports presenter in Sydney in March 2013.

Ryan is a highly accomplished television presenter and reporter with more than 17-years’ experience working for Sky Racing, Sports Tonight, Fox Sports News and US sports network ESPN,

He has presented and reported on some of the world’s biggest sporting events including the US Women’s Open, Melbourne Cup and Clipsal 500.

Born in Ayr, Queensland and raised in Brisbane, Ryan always had a passion for English and at 15 decided to pursue a career in journalism.

He undertook work experience as a newspaper errand-boy, and after some time landed a co-hosting job on local TV station Briz 31.

Ryan then worked as a presenter for Sky Racing, producing, writing and hosting their award-winning harness racing program In The Gig.

After three years with Sky, Ryan took a job as a reporter on Network Ten’s Sports Tonight, taking on the role of presenter a short time later.

Ryan resigned from Network Ten in later 2006 and moved to the US where he co-hosted ESPN’s Sportscenter program.

Ryan joined the Fox Sports News team in later 2007.

Ryan has two children.
