The Kremlin has extended an invitation to representatives of the Taliban, the terrorist group now in control of Afghanistan, to participate in the “Shaping the Future” forum in Kazan, The Moscow Times reported on June 8.

However, it remains unclear what specific educational experiences of the Taliban have garnered interest from the Russian Ministry of Education and the government of Tatarstan.

Since assuming power in 2021, the Taliban has notably prevented Afghan girls from accessing secondary education and higher learning opportunities.

Furthermore, they have enforced a ban on women attending universities or working as educators.

“Women are also prohibited from leaving their homes without wearing a burqa and are restricted from accessing public spaces like parks, swimming pools, and gyms. Adulterous women face the threat of public stoning,” journalists noted.
