Old footage of Russell Brand interviews have resurfaced amid the sexual assault allegations the comedian is facing.
Warning: The following content may be distressing for some readers.
Russell Brand has been accused of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse by four separate women, spanning over a time period of seven years, from 2006-2013. A joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4's Dispatches accused the comedian of multiple assaults with one of the alleged victims being just 16 at the time.
Russell Brand has denied the allegations, saying: "Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.”
Since the news broke, old footage of Brand has resurfaced, including old segments of his comedy shows where he makes crude sexual remarks as well as interviews where he's behaved inappropriately.
Two interviews with Sunrise's Samantha Armytage and Fifi Box have resurfaced in the last few days, with the footage showing the comedian acting erratically, making the women uncomfortable, and at one point even straddling Fifi Box in an interview that didn't end up airing on the morning show.
Fifi Box's encounter with Russell Brand: 'Lost for words'
When working at Sunrise as an entertainment reporter, Fifi Box was left startled when Russell Brand consistently made sexual remarks instead of talking about the movie he was promoting.
The interview which was meant to air on Sunrise, never made it to the morning show, with Russell at one point even straddling Fifi, hugging her, and kissing her cheek, before declaring she was now "pregnant".
Fifi spoke to news.com.au in 2015, five years after the interview, labelling Russell's behaviour as inappropriate.
"The guest that really took me by surprise, because I didn’t know much about him at the time, was Russell Brand. By the end of the interview, he was straddling me, grinding me inappropriately and trying to kiss me. So that was a very strange encounter," she said.
Samantha Armytage on Russell Brand: 'It was pretty full-on'
Former Sunrise host Samantha Armytage spoke to The Daily Telegraph earlier this week about her own experience interviewing Russell Brand, after he made suggestive comments to her.
"Obviously, he was always rather outrageous in his persona," she said. "But I do recall him being very touchy-feely and thinking it was pretty full-on given I didn't know him."
In the interview, Russell is seen eating a banana and brazenly telling Sam: "If you was on my telly when I was a teenage boy, it would mess me up. I think you are gorgeous."
