'I feel like throwing up': Man's 'sickening' garnish on KFC chicken

A Sydney man has had his lunch ruined after finding an unexpected addition to his KFC chicken.

Suren Sun, from Sydney’s west, told Yahoo7 News he had visited the fast food restaurant in Ashfield Mall when he opened the box and found a scrawny, leftover feather still attached to his chicken.

“I ordered a Favourite Box and as I opened the box I saw this,” Mr Sun said.

“Since when did they start using feather as a garnish. Ruined my lunch today.”

Mr Sun said the crusty feather immediately put him off his food.

“I didn’t feel like eating and didn’t even bother to go back and tell them (KFC) as they were busy.

“I just want KFC to look at their product standard. This is so terrible,” he said, adding that he didn’t feel like eating all day after the ordeal.

Mr Sun said he still “feels like throwing up” and wants to put the ordeal behind him.

“It has just given us a sickening feeling.”

A KFC spokesperson told Yahoo7 News that while they apologise to the customer for the incident, the occurrence isn’t a “health issue”.

“We’re really sorry one of our customers has had this experience, but rest-assured it’s almost certainly not a health issue,” the spokesperson said.

“Chickens have thousands of feathers and hairs, but occasionally mistakes happen and feathers are not removed when they should have been.”

The spokesperson said employees at the store have been spoken with to make sure they take extra care.

Meanwhile in Adelaide nine people have been hospitalised with salmonella linked to three Angkor Bakery stores in the city’s northern suburbs.

Earlier this year, a Queensland woman got the shock of her life when she unwrapped her KFC chicken only to find an insect embedded in it.

Hidden underneath the crispy coating, she found what appeared to be a dead flying ant.

“I was horrified, to be honest. That was the most disgusting thing, finding that in my meal, and that was a pretty ordinary response,” she told Yahoo7 News.
